Aspoň 4 mesiace pred deadlinom zahraničnej univerzity.

Documents and materials needed for a visa:
Doklad o zaplatenom zdravotnom poistení v Austrálií, potvrdenie o príjatí z Deakin University, prehlásenie o tom, že sa po ukončení štúdia vrátite domov a v krajine nezostanete, prípadne doklad o iných vízach ak ste nejaké iné víza mali niekedy.

Length of wait for visa:
V mojom prípade týždeň. Oficiálne píšu, že by to malo trvať zvyčajne do mesiaca, v najhoršom do troch mesiacov.

Fee for the visa:
650 AUD.

When and how did course registration take place? Are there any restrictions? Possibilities of making changes?:
Predbežná registrácia už niekedy pred prihláškou ktorú podávate priamo na stránkach zahraničnej univerzity. Zápis potom pri Welcome week pred začiatkom semestra. Možnosť zmeny prvé dva týždne semestra úplne bez problémov.

Did you take any examinations at the foreign school?:
Áno.

Does the school use the ECTS system?:

If not then explain how the credits there were recalculated into ECTS:
1 kredit buď 7 alebo 8 ECTS kreditov, závisí od predmetu.

Describe the teaching methods (theory, practical and projects) and assessment of students:
Teoretická prednáška a praktické semináre. Závisí ale od predmetu, niektoré boli praktickejšie aj pri prednáške, iné viac teoretické. Zadania seminárných prác mi prišli celkom praktické a užitočné.

Quality of teaching in comparison with home school:
Myslím si, že o niečo lepšia, väčší dôraz na praktické využitie nadobudnutých schopností namiesto ich teoretického uchopenia.

Všetko online cez informačný systém zahraničnej univerzity.

Can you recommend an interesting course/subject/teacher?:
Predictive Analytics - profesor Jacob Cybulski.

How well is the school library equipped?:
Dostatočná, porovnateľná s MUNI. Obrovská a prehľadná databáza online zdrojov.

Availability of computers, internet access, level of software needed, requirements on notebook:
Vlastný notebook určite nutný, minimálne pre mňa bol nutný pre každý predmet. Wifi v celom areáli kampusu. Dostatok počítačov v knihovni či v iných budovách kampusu.

Options from printing and copying:
Za zanedbatelný poplatok áno.

Does the foreign school/student organisation arrange special events for exchange students?:

If yes then what?:
Rôzne kultúrne či turistické akcie. Organizuje ich študíjna organizácia pod záštitou Deakin Uni.

Vďaka pandémií COVID-19 som pri online štúdiu nemal veľmi príležitosť integrácie s domácimi študentami.

Zdielané bývanie s domácim.

Ja som nepotreboval nič, všetko bolo vybavené.

How and how far ahead should accommodation be organised?:
Ja som vybavoval až po príchode, zo začiatku som býval u známeho.

What are the catering options?:
V kampuse bolo v jedálni pár rôznych možností, prípadne rôzne kaviarne v areáli kampusu.

What are the rough costs of groceries (compare with Czech prices):
Asi okolo 2,5 - 3krát drahšie.

Transport to location of placement:
Električka.

Rough prices for transportation:
So študentskou zľavou 1,50$ za cestu, max 4$ za deň.

Tips for purchasing cheap tickets and other recommendations:
Určite čo najskôr vybaviť študentskú zľavu na MHD, bez nej je to tak 2-krát drahšie.

What are the local transport options (public transport, cycling, on foot, rough prices):
Veľké množstvo cyklotrás, takže bicykel sa určite oplatí si zaobstarať.

What kind of formalities have to be arranged before arrival, for example residence permit?:
Všetko som vybavil buď hneď na letisku (nejaký povinný dokument čo som musel vyplniť) alebo s pomocou koordinátorov pri Welcome week.

What health insurance did you use? (rough price, advantages, disadvantages, is it necessary to arrange insurance at the university other than your home (Czech) insurance?):
Nutnosť zadováženia si austrálskeho študentského poistenia. Platil som okolo 280 AUD za skoro 4 mesiace. Univerzita ponákala 6 mesačné drahšie asi o nejakých 120 AUD. Vďaka tomu ale budete mať dlhšie platné študentské víza, takže by som si zaobstaral radšej to ak chcete po skončení semestra cestovať po Austrálií.

Nie.

What are the conditions for working for MU students?:
Vo všeobecnosti je možné pracovať len 20 hodín týždenne pri študentských vízach.

Tips for free-time activities:
Množstvo parkov, pláží, národný park dostupný MHD, mnoho skvelých kaviarní, reštaurácií, barov. Ak nie je zrovna pandémia, v Melbourne sa nedá nudiť :)
